Long-relief arm

When you have a rotation that is seemingly struggling, it’s a good idea to have a dependable long reliever. Michael King and Clarke Schmidt have each gone multiple innings for the Yanks.

In five games for King, he’s 1-0 with one save in 10.2 innings. He’s given up two runs, two walks, one intentional walk while striking out 18.

As for Schmidt, in three games he is 1-2 in 7.1 innings. He has give up two runs, one homer and four walks as he intentionally walked on and hit one batter by pitch. He’s struck out seven.

King has definitely fared better than Schmidt in their outings.

The rotation but get better in their outings in order to avoid using King and Schmidt in excess. Hopefully as we get deeper into the season, the Yankees’ pitching staff will improve. Otherwise it will be a long summer unless the team can find a couple of pitchers that can help with multiple innings.
