2023 NFL Mock Draft: Texans reboot at QB in ‘way-too-early’ 2023 Mock

4. player. 50. . QB. Detroit Lions. Bryce Young

The Detroit Lions had every opportunity to turn the page from Jared Goff this draft season, but instead, decided to build around him. Goff has won plenty of games at the NFL level, but nobody really feels he is a long-term answer in Detroit, and if they are picking No. 4 in 2023, things went very wrong once again.

Instead of passing on a signal-caller here, the Lions select Alabama star Bryce Young, who becomes the new face of the franchise. Young is a winner with incredible physical gifts, and hopefully, he will turn around this sorry franchise in Detroit.

5. player. 52. . WR. Jacksonville Jaguars. Jaxon Smith-Njigba

The Jacksonville Jaguars picked Trevor Lawrence with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, and he struggled mightily as a rookie. A lot of it was not his fault, but to make sure he grows in 2022, the team put a lot of new faces around him this offseason.

In 2023, a wide receiver could be a must, even with the fact the team added some veterans via free agency at the position this offseason. The pick here is Ohio State star Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who I believe is the No. 1 wideout in next year’s draft class.

Carolina Panthers. Will Levis. 6. player. 87. . QB

Holding the No. 6 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Carolina Panthers were predicted to draft Liberty quarterback, Malik Willis. Instead, they decided to pass on Willis, as did the rest of the NFL in the first round, setting them up to possibly be in the market for a signal-caller next April.

Again holding the No. 6 overall pick in 2023, the Panthers do not pass on a quarterback, bringing in Kentucky’s Will Levis. One of the best quarterbacks in Kentucky history, Levis has the skill set to be a first-round guy but will need a big 2022 season to cement his place in the top-10.
