Undisputed super middleweight champ Canelo Alvarez moves up to light heavyweight to challenge Dmitry Bivol. Here’s how to watch on May 7.

Alvarez (57-1-2, 39 KOs) is one of the most prolific boxers over the last decade or two. Already the undisputed champion at super middleweight, Alvarez moves up to 174 to challenge the undefeated Bivol. At 31 years old, Alvarez is arguably the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.

Bivol (19-0, 11 KOs), 31 years old and originally from Kyrgyzstan, won the WBA interim title in 2016 and became the full champion in 2017. He has never tasted defeat, but he has never fought a boxer anywhere close to Alvarez’s level.

It’s no surprise that Alvarez is the favorite. Alvarez is a solid betting choice at -550, according to Wynnbet.com. Bivol is slotted as the underdog at +375, nearly 4-1 odds.

The 6-foot Bivol is 4 inches taller than Alvarez, but Alvarez’s résumé is much deeper than Bivol’s. Plus, Alvarez has already won a world title at light heavyweight. He knocked out Sergey Kovalev in round 11 back in 2019 to win the WBO title, which he later vacated.
