Phillips Valdez had ONE bad game and he was sent down, what type of crown Matt Barnes has to get a pass. He’s useless in the bullpen.

The Red Sox are an embarrassment. I have no idea what their plan is anymore, I'm lost as to why Matt Barnes pitches at all anymore. I don't get why Whitlock is starting. I don't get it, not one bit

Can anyone give any justifiable reason, that of all the people that exist in this world…why the @redsox keep letting Matt Barnes throw a baseball professionally? https://t.co/5ZfRnQ1mQ7

Entering the game, Barnes carried a 7.71 ERA. That has since grown.
With outfielder A.J. Pollock starting off the inning standing on second base for the White Sox, Barnes faced off against first baseman Jose Abreu. On the third pitch thrown, Barnes surrendered a double to Abreu, allowing Pollock to score to give Chicago a 2-1 lead.
The next batter was outfielder Luis Robert. Barnes surrendered a single on the second pitch of the at-bat, which sent Abreu home to give the White Sox a 3-1 lead.
Barnes would get out of the inning afterward, forcing groundouts to Yasmani Grandal and Josh Harrison before striking out Jake Burger to end the frame.
Boston was unable to put runs on the board in the bottom of the 10th, as Rafael Devers, Xander Bogaerts and J.D. Martinez all grounded out to end the game.
With this game in the books, Barnes now has a 7.84 ERA, an 0-3 win-loss record, a 1.65 WHIP and one save in 10.1 innings.
The Red Sox will look to avoid the sweep on Sunday, as they take on the White Sox at 11:35 a.m. ET.
