Suns guard Chris Paul angrily tweeted about Mavericks fans putting hands on his mother and wife, calling out the NBA for not doing anything about it.
Motherās Day is supposed to be a celebration. For Chris Paul and his family attending the Suns playoff game against the Mavericks on Sunday, it was anything but.
After Phoenix fell 111-101, Paul took to Twitter to reveal that Mavericks fans mistreated his mom and wife during the game.
āWanna fine players for saying stuff to the fans but the fans can put they hands on our familiesā¦.f*** that!!ā Paul tweeted.
Mavericks fans allegedly put hands on Chris Paulās mom and wife
Dave McMenamin of ESPN reported that āPaulās mother had hands put on her by Dallas fans and Paulās wife was also pushed.
Paulās kids were present and witnessed the whole thing, feeling āunsafeā during the exchange.
During the game, camera caught Paul looking heated. Talking to an apparent law enforcement officer, the guard appeared to say, āhe put his hands on my mom, he put his hands on my mom.ā
The Mavericks released a statement acknowledging the incident and the removal of the fan in question.
āThe Dallas Mavericks are aware of an incident between a fan and the family of Chris Paul. It was unacceptable behavior and will not be tolerated. The Mavericks, along with American Airlines Center, swiftly removed the fan from todayās game,ā the statement said.
Dallas could take further action against the fan but that will have to be determined down the line. For now, itās a shame an NBA Playoff game was marred by such unacceptable fan behavior. Whether a fan is interacting with another fan or a playerās mother, there is no room for physical altercations at a sporting event.
