2. The Dan Quinn, Kellen Moore head-coaching rumors will heat up once again

Without debate, this will be one of the most important years of Cowboys football in recent memory. Simply put, the Cowboys need to get to the NFC Championship Game or they will need to get another head coach. Dallas may have made the playoffs last year in Mike McCarthy’s second season on the job, but his two coordinators loom large in the background at the team’s facility.

No matter how the upcoming season shakes out in Dallas, Dan Quinn and Kellen Moore will once again be among the top candidates for any number of head-coaching opportunities, around the metroplex or not. The Joneses will have to make a tough decision on if they want to continue to employ an underwhelming head coach they can control or hand the reins over to someone better.

Teams like the Carolina Panthers, the Seattle Seahawks and maybe even the Indianapolis Colts could be looking for new head coaches come Black Monday. Moore and Quinn have Pacific Northwest ties as possible Pete Carroll successors. It is a rebuild in Seattle, no doubt, but will The Joneses be willing to swallow the chance either Moore or Quinn turn that NFC franchise around?

If the Cowboys struggle out of the gate, McCarthy’s seat could become extra crispy by Halloween.
