The best F1 race reactions from the Miami Grand Prix included Martin Brundle appreciation, broadcast criticism and memes for every occasion.
The Miami Grand Prix was as much of a spectacle as promised with celebrities crowding the track before the race and a slew of shenanigans in the aftermath.
When it came down to it though, it was another race with all the usual fixing: High speeds, overtakes, collisions and ultimately, a winner.
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen overcame his third-place start by quickly jumping into second place at Turn 1 then overtaking Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc for the race lead. A late safety car made things interesting but Verstappen held on to top the podium, which also feature Leclerc and his Ferrari teammate Carlos Sainz.

Martin Brundle was trending before the race began because his track walk was an experience. He mistook Duke’s Paolo Banchero for Patrick Mahomes and had people talking.

F1's obsession with celebrities paired with the fact that Brundle doesn't even know who he's interviewing is both embarrassing & hilarious.#MiamiGP

Miami has drummed up a ton of excitement over hosting their first-ever Formula 1 Grand Prix. The attention F1 is generating in the U.S. is very real.
I thought it was something particular to my Twitter feed (lots of sports nerds) that everyone is suddenly really into F1, but it looks like everyone is suddenly really into F1.https://t.co/eMG2MknaJ7 pic.twitter.com/pMkVcyrsP0

Unfortunately, the F1 broadcast isn’t always the most effective at telling the story of what’s happening on track.

Hi F1,

We don’t need replays or crowd shots when there’s a tight battle for the lead.
Sincerely,
Everyone
Considering the amount of people at @F1 HQ, how are we unable to cut to incidents and action so much quicker in 2022? Shouldn't need a 30 second delay and drivers tumbling down the order before it is picked up. (Answer: the incident is not part of the 'story') #MiamiGP

This is a constant complaint during races but one day the powers that be will hear the groans, right?
Speaking of power, Sergio Perez of Red Bull ran into some trouble on that front.

As much as the Miami GP tried to make Sunday a party, the happenings on track weren’t always at that level. In the middle of the race, there was quite a bit of a lull. But quiet moments are the best time to tweet and meme.

F1 hasn’t been the same since Latifi decided to be a serious driver
— s. 👩🏾🎓 (@sembikengoku_) May 8, 2022
Nicholas Latifi didn’t come through to ramp up the excitement like he has in past races, but someone did finally break the monotony. It was AlphaTauri’s Pierre Gasly taking out McLaren’s Lando Norris that did the trick.
Whoa! This F1 race just changed as Lando Norris's wheel came off and he spun. Virtual safety car, which is what George Russell wanted to see.

You have to imagine that "doing the walk of the shame back to the garage in a helmet that looks like a basketball" is going to be a low point for Lando's career

The timing of the ensuring safety car really suited George Russell of Mercedes.

While battles at the front between Verstappen and Leclerc as well as Sainz and Perez didn’t yield late overtakes, fans got exactly what they didn’t want when Haas’ Mick Schumacher collided with his mentor on the grid Sebastian Vettel of Aston Villa.

When all was said and done Verstappen notched another victory while Leclerc and Sainz finished second and third. The trip to the podium was pretty unique as a police escort transported the winner.
And that was far from the most bizarre moment of the post-race festivities.
