Wells Fargo Championship purse: Payout by player, finishing position
Breaking down the Wells Fargo Championship payout and purse for the 2022 trip to TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm this week.
While the PGA Tour didn’t head to Quail Hollow as it normally does for this time of year, the Wells Fargo Championship as the President’s Cup later in the year will take over that venue in Charlotte, NC. However, the trip to TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm delivered a wild week of golf, much influenced by the elements but also by a fun course.
The Par-70 track is long for a course that has only two Par 5 holes, but it played even longer this week with cold weather, whipping winds, and rain battering the golfers throughout the first three days of the tournament. It was truly a war of attrition but, after 54 holes, it appeared that we might be looking at a down-to-the-wire battle between Max Homa and Keegan Bradley.
There’s no doubt, however, that whoever emerged as the victor would earn their share of the Wells Fargo Championship payout with all of the weather and battles that had to be endured to get to that point.
Every player who made the cut was vying for their share of the $9 million purse with the winner getting $1.62 million. But what is the rest of the payout and prize money structure? Let’s take a look.

Again, there was no free money being handed out this week in Maryland. It was a grueling 72 holes of golf and every penny was undoubtedly earned with the test they were faced with and, for the 65 players who made the cut, how they largely succeeded in doing so.
