Willson Contreras cup-checked Max Muncy chasing after wild pitch for no reason at all
Cubs catcher Willson Contreras took an unfortunate shot at Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy while chasing after a wild pitch.
Poor Max Muncy.
The Dodgers third baseman was minding his own business at the plate against the Cubs on Sunday when Willson Contreras did him dirty.
A wild pitch sent Contreras scrambling to recover the ball, but he decided to use Muncy’s crotch as a handhold.

Muncy definitely felt that one. Who wouldn’t? He took a moment to compose himself before continuing the at-bat, which resulted in a walk. Considering all the things that trigger benches-clearing brawls, this one didn’t go any further than that.
Whether the contact was incidental as Contreras tried to swing around the batter or the catcher was trying to take a dirty shot, things worked out for Muncy and the Dodgers in the end.
The incident happened in the top of the fourth with the Cubs leading 1-0. Justin Turner and Cody Bellinger drove in two runs as the next two batters up. Los Angeles scored seven unanswered runs to win the game 7-1.
Muncy finished 0-for-2 with two walks. Contreras was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a walk.
There won’t be an opportunity for Los Angeles to get a bit of retribution until later this season. The Dodgers finished the dominant sweep over the Chicago, outscoring the opposition 20-3. The latest victory extended a six-game winning streak. They have the best record in the National League this season.
