Each and every year, more and more people get introduced to the fun that is the NCAA softball tournament. The tournament itself is one of the most thrilling and probably one of the most underrated events in sports.
Because there is a lot going on in the tournament that can be difficult to keep up with, there are many will tune in for the Women’s College World Series to catch some of the most notable games possible.
The WCWS draws in an impressive number of viewers every year and it’s something that every sports fan should take the chance to check out. Of course, it typically helps to know when the event takes place so that you can watch it. So, if you’ve never seen the Women’s College World Series and are looking to start keeping up with college softball, here’s some helpful info.
When is the Women’s College World Series?
The Women’s College World Series typically takes place in early June. For 2022, the event is scheduled to run from Thursday, June 2 through Friday, June 10, if necessary. In theory, a total of 17 games can take place in that window of time if needed.
Where is the Women’s College World Series?
The WCWS is hosted at USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium – OGE Energy Field in Oklahoma City. While there is some history of one form of the WCWS being hosted in Omaha, the event has been hosted in OKC in almost every year since 1990 with the one exception being 1996.
How many teams make the Women’s College World Series?
While there are a total of 64 teams that will compete in the NCAA softball tournament each and every season, nowhere near that number of teams get the chance to play in the Women’s College World Series. A total of eight teams will be in Oklahoma City to compete in the Women’s College World Series with the hopes of winning a national championship.
