Kevin Durant – Brooklyn Nets

There’s unrealistic, and then there’s Kevin Durant to the Lakers unrealistic. What would the Lakers have to do to get Kevin Durant to leave the Nets and come play for the Lakers? Would they have to give him a piece of the franchise? Would he need to get a suite in the Staples Center linked to him forever? Do the Lakers have to trade away LeBron James to make this deal work for Durant?

Durant still looks like one of the best players in the league, and the Nets just spent a fortune to try and win a championship this season. It fell apart almost as bad as the Lakers with Kyrie Irving’s vaccine status to James Harden refusing to do it all by himself. They ended up getting ousted in the first round of the playoffs after surviving the play-in round. Now, they would like a more normal season where they can see the fruits of their labor.

Trading away Durant would only come if he demanded it, and there’s no indication that’s the direction he’s leaning right now. He has stood by Irving’s decision the entire time, at least publically. He can’t be happy with how the season went, but Durant seems like a different cat. He doesn’t want to go through the craziness that comes with playing for the Lakers, at least that’s how it appears.

We suppose crazier things have happened, but this is leaning towards impossible at this point. Durant would need so much to happen to join the Lakers, and the Nets would need so much to move on from him. It’s just as likely to declare the two sides would swap Durant and LeBron as it would be to say Durant is heading to the City of Angels anytime soon.
