The Philadelphia Eagles may have upwards of three primetime games for the 2022 NFL season.

While the Philadelphia Eagles already know they have at least one primetime game on tap this season, could they be getting one, maybe two more when the NFL regular-season schedule is released in earnest on Thursday night?

The Eagles will host the Minnesota Vikings as part of Week 1’s finale in the doubleheader on Monday Night Football. Despite being a big brand, the Eagles will be lucky to get two additional primetime games this year. A second is definitely happening, given the media market they play in, but a third may be more challenging to find on their 17-game slate than most people even realize.

How many primetime games could the Eagles be taking part in and who could they be playing?

Philadelphia Eagles: Primetime TV game predictions, 2022

Looking at the Eagles’ 2022 regular-season opponents, The Birds draw the NFC North in its entirety and the AFC South in its entirety, as well as its six divisional games and the three to round it out for competitive balance. The three competitive balance games are at the Arizona Cardinals, home vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers and home vs. the New Orleans Saints. So what about primetime?

In addition to the Vikings game at home, the road date at the Indianapolis Colts jumps off the page. This will have mentor vs. protege connections, as Nick Sirianni previously served as Frank Reich’s offensive coordinator before taking over the Eagles last year. If the Eagles get a second primetime game, this date at Indianapolis would have to be that one. But what if there is a third?

As much fun as those competitive balance games are, FOX will want to keep the Cardinals and Saints dates in their back pockets as potential NFC Games of the Week. Home vs. the in-state rivals could be in the mix, but everybody knows the NFL wants all the smoke at the end of the day. That is why the Eagles’ third game will be vs. Carson Wentz and the Washington Commanders.

Philadelphia Eagles primetime game predictions: 3, (at Colts, vs. Commanders, vs. Vikings).
