The Minnesota Vikings missed out on clinching a playoff berth for the second consecutive season, as they finished 8-9 to end the year. As a result, the organization fired head coach Mike Zimmer and general manager Rick Spielman. Their respective replacements were Kevin O’Connell and Kwesi Adofo-Mensah.

When the Vikings made the playoffs in their last two trips, they went on pretty deep runs. They are looking to make a return in 2022. As they await their schedule, they already know their opponents.

Here are five must-win games for the Vikings.

5. Detroit Lions

Perhaps the easiest way to get in playoff position is to pick up wins inside the divisions.

The Detroit Lions may have finished in last place in the division last year, but the Vikings are stewing after what happened last season. The Lions were winless entering Week 13, and the Vikings seemed poised to ensure that streak continued. Yet, a touchdown reception by Amon-Ra St. Brown at the buzzer helped the Lions pick up their first win of the season with a 29-27 victory.

You best believe Minnesota will look to avenge this loss in 2022.
