Minnesota Vikings: Predicting primetime TV games for 2022
By John Buhler
The Minnesota Vikings have not one, but two primetime games, possibly even more coming.
No NFL team knows more about their regular-season slate heading into Thursday’s schedule release bonanza than do the Minnesota Vikings.
Minnesota will travel to the City of Brotherly Love to take on the Philadelphia Eagles as part of the Monday Night Football double shot to help propel us through what should be an awesome Week 1. A few weeks later, the Vikings will venture across the pond to play the New Orleans Saints as one of the three London games on tap this season. That game will be happening on Sunday, Oct. 2.
With two primetime/standalone games already part of their schedule, do the Vikings get another?
Minnesota Vikings: Primetime TV game predictions, 2022
Looking at their 2022 season opponents, Minnesota will play the AFC East in its entirety, the NFC East in its entirety and its three competitive balance games in addition to its six-game, home-and-home slate with its NFC North division rivals. The three competitive balance games for the Vikings are vs. the Saints in London, home vs. the Arizona Cardinals and home vs. the Indianapolis Colts.
Though the Vikings have a proud fanbase, three primetime games should be plenty for them this season. So if they were to pick up a third, welcoming the rival Green Bay Packers to U.S. Bank Stadium has every bit the primetime feel of something the television-viewing audience would like to watch on Sunday or Monday night. Four primetime games for the Vikings this year is a bit much.
If the Vikings do get a fourth game, why not bring the Cardinals to the Minneapolis on a Thursday?
Minnesota Vikings primetime TV game predictions: 3, (at Eagles, vs. Packers, at Saints).
