John Ramirez delivered the KO of the night when he sent Jan Salvatierra out of the ring on the Gilberto Ramirez vs. Dominic Boesel undercard.

Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez and Dominic Boesel were supposed to be the stars at Toyota Arena on May 14, but super flyweight John Ramirez stole the show.

Ramirez (10-0, 8 KOs) had an incredible 77 percent KO rating entering his undercard boxing bout against Jan Salvatierra, but he upped that number with an eyecatching KO victory.

Ramirez leaped in during the final minute of round 1 with a right cross that caught Salvatierra on the chin that knocked him out–as in straight out of the ring.

John Ramirez made a name for himself after dynamically knocking Jan Salvatierra out in round 1

Salvatierra hit the ground hard but somehow made it into the ring. The referee continued the count, but Salvatierra rolled back against the ropes and was in no condition to continue. He stopped the fight at the 2:25 mark.

Ramirez isn’t highly rated and hasn’t fought the best competition, but that KO will put him on posters and guarantee him another big matchup. It was the kind of stoppage that makes a career.
