The Pittsburgh Penguins made some horrible history as they fell short and ended up blowing a 3-1 lead against the New York Rangers.

NHL Twitter is having a field day with the Pittsburgh Penguins right now. Unfortunately for folks in Pittsburgh, the Penguins made some pretty bad history as they ended up blowing a 3-1 series lead against the New York Rangers.

The Penguins ended up splitting the first two games of the series and then jumped out to that 3-1 series lead thanks to some dominant wins in games three and four. The Penguins won those games by scores of 7-4 and 7-2 respectively.

And yet, none of that mattered as Pittsburgh lost the last three games of the series.

That sort of collapse in a best-of-7 series is something that will always get memed into oblivion. It’s bad! It’s never good to lose like that. And of course, the Penguins are hearing about just how bad this mess was. NHL Twitter is having a ton of fun trolling the Penguins.

Penguins fans aren’t thrilled though! They aren’t happy with how this went!

But while people in Pittsburgh are pretty miserable, it seems like Rangers fans couldn’t be happier with how this series ended.
