Adam Wainwright owns the Pirates, might be willing to spend money on team

Adam Wainwright has had some recent success against the Pittsburgh Pirates, and this stat proves just that.
The St. Louis Cardinals began their three game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday, May 20. While it was hyped up as the debut game of Nolan Gorman in a Cardinals uniform, there was history made by veteran pitcher Adam Wainwright.
Against the Pirates, Wainwright pitched seven innings, where he surrendered just one earned run on four hits in the Cardinals’ 5-3 victory. The one earned run he gave up was on a solo homer hit by Michael Chavis.
With that Wainwright’s scoreless innings streak against the Pirate ended at 38 innings. That is the longest streak against a single opponent since Roger Clemens threw 40 consecutive scoreless innings against the Seattle Mariners from 1987-90, per ESPN Stats and Info.

Cardinals: Adam Wainwright’s now owns the Pirates, not Bob Nutting
All good things must eventually come to an end. But, the important thing is that the Cardinals picked up a victory against their rivals.
If only this were true, however, for the Pirates’ sake. Nutting is one of the worst owners in all of sports, and routinely fails to put money in his big-league product. Attendance in Pittsburgh is brutal despite having one of the best ballparks in America.
Wainwright’s net worth isn’t near what Nutting’s is, but my money would be on him spending more.
