Predicting where the PGA Championship cut line will be at a tough, windy Southern Hills as players struggle to get remotely close to under par.

Southern Hills Country Club hosting the PGA Championship wasn’t always the plan, but the venue in Tulsa, OK has immediately delivered the goods on the course. The first round was a perfect test for players as the winds created challenges on an already-challenging golf course that allowed the players in the zone to separate themselves at the top of the leaderboard.

That was exacerbated in the second round with the winds picking up and the golf course still demanding pristine play from multiple facets of these players’ game.

But when the second round subsides, that means half the field will be done and won’t be seeing the weekend. So what will the PGA Championship cut line be? Let’s take a look.

PGA Championship cut rules: How many players make the cut?

Once upon a time, the cut rules for several of the major championships was that the Top 70 and ties plus any players within 10 strokes of the lead would make the cut. That is no longer the case per the rules from the PGA of America.

Now, the rules state that it is only the Top 70 and ties after the first and second rounds of the major championship that will make the cut in 2022.

PGA Championship cut line: Predicting the score needed to make the cut

Early in the second round, it was projected that +3 would be the cut line. However, as the wind continued to pick up throughout the morning in Tulsa, that was put into question.

Barring the conditions softening later in the afternoon — which, admittedly, is a possibility — it seems as if the PGA Championship cut line will end up at around 4-over par, though it could just hang on at 3-over. That speaks to just how difficult the course is playing this week and to how well the leaders are playing to post the scores they have.
