The Atlanta Braves bullpen cannot catch a break with injuries. It all started with Luke Jackson, but could they bring back a familiar face to help out?

Shane Greene isn’t the player he once was, but at just 33 years old, he clearly still has something left to give the Braves if he can find his past glory in Atlanta.

The last two seasons have not been kind to Greene. He came into Braves camp late last year, and pitched in 19 games to the tune of an 8.47 ERA. After a short ride with the Dodgers at the end of 2021 and now 2022, Green made just 10 appearances. It did not go well.

Los Angeles parted ways with Greene this weekend. With nowhere else to turn for now, could a return to Atlanta be in order?

Braves bullpen woes: Could Shane Greene be a short-term answer?

Greene would need to undergo some fine-tuning in the minor leagues before the Braves could trust him in a game of any magnitude. Could Greene be the same pitcher he was in in 2019 and 2020?

Just two seasons ago, Greene was the Braves setup man and had 22 holds in a shortened season. While that Atlanta team didn’t make the World Series, they were just one game short and at what point held a 3-1 series lead on the Dodgers.

Atlanta is without Jackson, Jay Jackson, Kirby Yates, and Tyler Matzek for the time being. Even as a middle-relief beacon, taking a flyer on Greene won’t do them any harm.
