Draymond Green shades Timberwolves regarding Andrew Wiggins
By Scott Rogust
Draymond Green threw some shade at the Minnesota Timberwolves regarding Andrew Wiggins after his huge Game 3 performance.
The Golden State Warriors are officially one win away from reaching the NBA Finals for the first time since 2019. They have reached this point after taking the first three games in the Western Conference Finals against the Dallas Mavericks. Their latest showing saw the Warriors win 109-100 behind a tremendous performance by Andrew Wiggins, who went viral for his monstrous dunk on Mavericks star Luka Doncic.
After the game, Draymond Green praised Wiggins for how he played. Not only that, but he threw some shade towards the Minnesota Timberwolves, Wiggins’ former team.

“On the biggest stage, he’s come through,” said Green. “I’ve always said no one talks about teams guys are on, or organizations that guys are in. No one ever talks about that, it’s always the player’s fault. [Wiggins] is showing I’m not far off when I say that.”
Wiggins spent the entirety of his career with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He was the first-overall pick of the 2014 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers, but was moved to Minnesota in the Kevin Love trade. In his five seasons with Minnesota, the team had only made the playoffs once. Then, midway through the 2019-20 season, Wiggins was traded to the Warriors in exchange for D’Angelo Russell.
In his second season with the Warriors, Wiggins has played tremendously. Not only that, but he was named to the All Star Game for the first time in his career. But in the playoffs, as Green mentions, he has truly stepped up. More so than ever in Game 3.
Wiggins played 40 minutes against the Mavericks on Sunday night, where he put up 27 points while shooting 11-for-20 from the field and hauled in 11 rebounds. Not to mention that there was the dunk on Doncic, which for some reason was reviewed for an offensive foul even though there wasn’t.
This postseason, Wiggins is averaging 15.9 points and 6.9 rebounds while shooting 48.6-percent from the field.
Green says it has been great to see Wiggins pick up his level of play. He has done just that, and the Warriors will no doubt want to see it again in game 4 on Tuesday night. If he does, it increases Golden State’s chances of winning and clinching a spot in the NBA Finals.
