Zach LaVine adds fuel to Lakers rumors with latest comment
By Scott Rogust
Zach LaVine is set to become an unrestricted free agent, and he made some interesting comments about potentially playing for the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Chicago Bulls made it to the NBA playoffs for the first time since 2017, which happened after they added DeMar DeRozan and Lonzo Ball in the offseason. But now, they could lose star Zach LaVine, who is set to become an unrestricted free agency. LaVine made some rather interesting comments recently.
LaVine was spotted in Los Angeles and was approached by TMZ and was asked to give a message to Lakers fans. LaVine responded by saying “I’ve always been a big fan.”
Zach LaVine says he’s ‘always been a big fan’ of Lakers
That will certainly catch the attention of Lakers fans.
The Lakers tried to go all-in to win another NBA Championship by bringing in Russell Westbrook and his huge contract. Instead, Westbrook struggled throughout the campaign, the team dealt with injuries and overall underperformed. That led to the team finishing in 11th-place in the Western Conference and opting to fire head coach Frank Vogel at the end of the season.
Bringing in LaVine won’t be cheap, considering he is a star player and only 27-years-old. LaVine is coming off a 2021-22 season where he averaged 24.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.5 assists while posting a field goal percentage of 47.6 through 67 games.
It is interesting to note that LaVine did undergo successful arthroscopic knee surgery in Los Angeles on Tuesday, May 24, per the Bulls.
While LaVine says he is a fan of the Lakers, it remains to be seen if he would actually join the team this offseason.
