Cubs: Willson Contreras and 3 more veterans worth selling at trade deadline
4. Ian Happ
It’s almost hard to believe Happ has only been with the Cubs since 2017, but 2023 will be his final season of arbitration eligibility as he will be a free agent in 2024.
While he’s mostly patrolled left field, Happ has played some in center field and as the designated hitter. He’s hitting .275/.386/.420 with an OPS of .806. He has 24 walks, 25 singles, seven doubles, four home runs, 22 runs and 22 RBI. He does have three defensive runs saved in left field.
Happ is young, scrappy, and can get on base and make some plays. It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Cubs want to build around him but after the plethora of moves the organization has made, you have to believe they will shop him to get something in return. With a dynamic presence and good glove with a decent bat, you have to believe there is a team needing this type of player in their system.
