Gervonta Davis vs. Rolando Romero fight card, start time, channel guide
The Showtime pay-per-view boxing event between Gervonta Davis vs. Rolly Romero takes place on Saturday, May 28, at Barclays Center.
Undefeated lightweights Gervonta Davis and Rolly Romero finally meet on May 28.
Davis and Romero have pent-up animosity toward each other. Both are signed to Floyd Mayweather’s Mayweather Promotions, but this is Davis’s last boxing bout under the Mayweather banner.
Davis (26-0. 24 KOs) revealed his plans to move on from Mayweather Promotions on The Last Stand podcast (h/t The Independent). Davis has long been the crown jewel of Mayweather Promotions, but that title could fall to Romero if he’s able to knock off Davis.
Davis (14-0, 12 KOs) is a heavy-handed puncher like Davis, which makes the likelihood of a knockout high. Romero is incredibly outspoken and has thrown many verbal insults Davis’s way in the build-up to this contest.
Romero predicted a round 1 KO in multiple outlets. He was supposed to fight Davis in December but was replaced by Isaac Cruz after sexual assault allegations were made against him. No criminal charges were filed, and Romero is adamant about his innocence.
Davis defeated Cruz via unanimous decision in a very competitive matchup. Now, Romero gets his shot.
