Karim Benzema seem to put Real Madrid ahead of Liverpool in the Champions League final. Here’s a look at the controversial call.
Karim Benzema’s goal was disallowed Saturday right before halftime Saturday against Liverpool in the Champions League final.
Following a lengthy VAR review, Benzema was deemed to be in an offside position after putting the ball into the net in the 43rd minute following a scramble in front of the Liverpool goal.
NO GOAL! Karim Benzema had a would-be opener chalked off, and after a lengthy VAR review, the call is upheld over an offside call following a chaotic sequence in the Liverpool box. Still 0-0 in the #UCLfinal

The goal was disallowed because Benzema’s teammate Federico Valverde got a touch on the ball before the Frenchman put it in goal.
The match remained scoreless going into halftime.

Some on Twitter thought the goal should have stood. Others agreed with the call.
Ball didn't come off Valverde. Konate stopped the ball movement and Fabinho kneed it to Benzema. Robbery pic.twitter.com/DqfULKCBVQ

The goal was apparently ruled offside because it wasn't a deliberate deflection by Fabinho.

An excruciatingly long VAR wait to reach an entirely perplexing conclusion to rule out a goal. Final *two* touches were defenders before it reached Benzema. An incredibly vague and intangible "deliberate" thrown into laws to justify multiple interpretations.
