NBA trusted its biggest game of the season so far to its worst referee

The NBA has all the faith in the world in Scott Foster calling a great Game 7 between the Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat to decide the 2022 Eastern Conference Finals.

With the Golden State Warriors having already won the west, the NBA is putting the ball in Scott Foster’s court to largely decide how Game 7 between the Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat will shake out.

While Golden State has been straight chilling for days since beating the Dallas Mavericks in five, oh it will go the distance alright down in South Beach. This will be either the last game of the season for visiting Boston or top-seeded Miami playing at home. Though the Heat forced a Game 7 by ruining the Celtics’ evening a few nights ago, let’s hope the winner does so without the officials.

One way or another, some NBA fanbase is going to get battery-throwing mad after this one.

Though we are not going to get some good, old-fashioned Tim Donaghy 2002 Western Conference Finals shenanigans up here, who is going to be this year’s Los Angeles Lakers and who is going to be this postseason’s Sacramento Kings? Tonight would be a great night to swallow the whistle, but so many eyeballs will be tuning into ESPN to not hear Mike Breen scream, “BANG!”

It just feels inevitable. There will be a play or five where the Heat fans who don’t leave the game early will go apoplectic over the officiating. The only way this could have been a bigger hot mess was if Game 7 was in Boston. We should be thanking our lucky stars that Miami decided to save us from that hellscape by winning more regular season games than anyone in the East this year.

All jokes aside, the winner of Game 7 on Sunday night will have earned it. The new Eastern Conference champion will be battle-tested, but will have one more tough matchup remaining vs. the Golden State dynasty that is not dead yet. The Warriors may feel happy about getting to watch this one in San Francisco, but they must battle with complacency to not lose their edge in Game 1.
