3. How could the Trail Blazers trade for OG Anunoby?

Trail Blazers receive: OG Anunoby

Raptors receive:  Josh Hart, No. 7 overall pick, 2025 first-round pick via Milwaukee Bucks (lottery protected, becomes 2026 and 2027 second round picks via Portland if not conveyed)

As Fischer outlined in his piece, the cost is likely at least two firsts or a first and a rookie scale talent. Portland, pushed by Damian Lillard’s prime to act quickly to maximize a potential contender window, do not value the No. 7 overall selection as much as perhaps a team like Toronto might (maybe in their own future dealings, or to add another lottery talent alongside Barnes as a long-term core).

Between that mid-NBA Lottery pick, a future first almost certain to convey (it is hard to see a Giannis Antetokounmpo team in the lottery, barring injury), and Josh Hart as a stopgap more likely to fit the dynamic of Toronto as a key role player, the asking price has been met. Fischer noted in his article that the $20.9 million trade exception allows for Anunoby (or Jerami Grant) to be acquired without completely matching salaries.

Anunoby strengthens Portland’s playoff hopes. Toronto adds two firsts and doesn’t compromise their own postseason hopes. A possible win-win for both teams.
