The Georgia football program looks to build on its first national championship in 41 seasons.

Kirby Smart has the Georgia football team firing on all cylinders heading into year seven of him leading his alma mater’s program.

Georgia is coming off a historic season, no doubt. The Dawgs laid to rest any 1980 jokes for the rest of time. An all-time great defense propelled Georgia to the summit for the first time in 41 years. Of course, Smart knows his team must battle complacency in the immediate aftermath of their national championship-winning season. Regression will likely happen, but to what degree?

Here are five bold predictions for the Georgia football team heading into its title defense season.

Georgia football: 5 early bold predictions for 2022 college football season

5. Georgia may lose a regular-season game, but it will not be at Kentucky

Last year, Georgia navigated its regular-season slate perfectly. The Dawgs went 8-0 in SEC play for the first time ever. While they did not win the league title after falling to Alabama in Atlanta, they did avenge their lone loss of the year by beating the Crimson Tide in Indianapolis for the ultimate prize. Will Georgia lose a regular-season game? Maybe, but absolutely not to Kentucky.

Should Georgia beat Dan Lanning’s Oregon Ducks in Atlanta on Labor Day Weekend, there is a great possibility the Dawgs will not drop a regular-season game. The early-season road date at South Carolina will be tough, but that might be it. Kentucky should finish in second place next season, but after how Mark Stoops ended last year’s battle, Smart is never going to forget that.

Factor in this being Georgia’s last conference game of the season, and they will not fall to 7-1.
