The Washington Nationals weren’t thrilled after the New York Mets won Monday’s game, even comparing their NL East rival to Nickelback.

The Nats will have two chances at revenge on Tuesday and Wednesday, but a 13-5 defeat at the hands of the division-leading Mets isn’t a good way to start the week.

New York’s bats came alive in a big way, and Washington didn’t have much of an answer for it. The Nats haven’t had an answer for the Mets or most teams all season, as they sit in the cellar of the NL East, 15 games back of New York.

It appears the losing is starting to get to Washington’s social media channels, as the team took the extraordinary step of comparing the Mets to Nickelback after Monday’s defeat.

Nationals use Nickelback to get back at Mets

First off, don’t bring Chad Kroeger into this. He’s completely innocent in the matter. Second — don’t bring up a Nickelback comparison unless you’re willing to back it up.

The Nationals were not.

As you can see, the New York trolls were out in full force to let the Nats have it.

Perhaps instead of creativity from the social media account, Washington would prefer better pitching from the likes of Erick Fedde, Andres Machado and Austin Voth, who gave up 12 runs combined before the end of the fourth inning.

Yikes.

Next. 3 trades the Mets should make after the Max Scherzer injury. dark
