Warriors: Kevin Durant disagrees with Draymond Green’s take on Steph Curry

Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant disagreed with Draymond Green’s take that Steph Curry not winning Finals MVP was due to being double-teamed.

The Golden State Warriors are back in the NBA Finals for the first time since 2019. They had made it to the Finals six times in the past eight years, winning three Larry O’Brien Trophies. But when it comes to NBA Finals MVP awards, Stephen Curry shockingly has none.

On the latest episode of “The Draymond Green Show,” Green gave his take on why Curry went without a Finals MVP. While he gave credit to Kevin Durant, who won MVP in 2017 and 2018, he said that Curry was double-teamed seven times more by the opposition than Durant.

A Twitter user quote retweeted the above audio clip and tagged Durant, currently of the Brooklyn Nets, and asked him if it was true. Durant called it “100-percent false.”

Durant was unbelievable during Golden State’s last two NBA Finals matchups against the Cleveland Cavaliers. In 2017, Durant averaged 35.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 5.4 assists while posting a field goal percentage of .556 in five games. In 2018, Durant put up an average of 28.8 points, 10.8 rebounds and 7.5 assists through four games.

Regardless of how Green or Durant feel about who should have won MVP, Curry has the chance to make this debate meaningless. If he were to perform in the Finals like he has throughout this entire postseason run, he could very well manage to win his first Finals MVP.

This postseason, Curry averaged 25.9 points, 6.2 assists and 4.9 rebounds while putting up a field goal percentage of .449 and a three-point percentage of .380 in 16 games (12 starts).
