Ryan Day and the entire Ohio State football team can expect big things this college season.

After missing out on the College Football Playoff a year ago, Ryan Day and the rest of the Ohio State football program should feel great about their chances of returning to the final four this season.

Ohio State rarely loses regular-season games these days, so dropping a pair last year came as a bit of a surprise. After seeing what this offense was truly capable of in the Rose Bowl vs. Pac-12 champion Utah, the Buckeyes showed they can hang points on anyone. We know the offense will be stupendous, but how good the defense is will determine if this team is raising multiple banners.

Here are five bold predictions that are totally coming true for the Buckeyes this college season.

Ohio State football: 5 early bold predictions for 2022 college football season

5. Ohio State will earn the No. 1 overall seed in the College Football Playoff

Though the Buckeyes have a trio of very tough games before their bye week, there is a very strong possibility Ohio State gets to Indianapolis undefeated out of the Big Ten East. Because the Big Ten West is so beyond clueless when it comes to winning at Lucas Oil Stadium, it will be the Buckeyes who will be punching their ticket into the College Football Playoff, probably as the No. 1 seed, too.

Ohio State draws Notre Dame, Wisconsin and Michigan State before the bye. While the Buckeyes get the Irish and Badgers at home, they have to play Sparty on the road. After the bye, the back-to-back games vs. Iowa and Penn State will decide if this team is getting to The Game unscathed. Though the back half is easier than the front, rarely is there a time to take their foot off the gas.

If Ohio State goes 12-0 and wins the Big Ten, the Buckeyes are in position to earn the No. 1 seed.
