Look: Warriors have to lower hoop in warm-ups after Celtics set it too high

The Golden State Warriors complained that the hoop at TD Garden in warm-ups was too high. As it turns out, they were right.

The Boston Celtics shocked the NBA world when they managed to win Game 1 of the 2022 NBA Finals by scoring 40 points in the fourth quarter. But, the Golden State Warriors secured the Game 2 victory by the score of 107-88. Now, the series leaves San Francisco and heads to Boston for the next two games.

But is there controversy up in Boston?

During warmups at TD Garden ahead of Game 3 on Wednesday, June 8, the Warriors complained that the hoops on the court were too high. As it turns out, they were correct, because their warmups were paused to have the hoop reset.

ESPN’s Kendra Andrews reported that one of Golden State’s assistant coaches noticed the rim was too high, and brought over a couple of players to confirm it. After measuring the rim, it was determined that it was two-inches higher than it is supposed to be and it took 20 minutes to resolve the issue.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr had some fun regarding the situation while speaking with the media, but said that it does happen “every once in a while.”

Golden State is coming off of a big Game 2 victory over Boston. Stephen Curry led the way for the Warriors, as he recorded 29 points (9-for-21 from field), six rebounds, four assists and three steals. Jordan Poole was a star off the bench, as he scored 17 points while making 5-of-9 three-pointers.

Jayston Tatum put up 28 points (8-of-19 on field goals, 6-for-9 from three-point line), six rebounds and three assists for Boston in the loss.

Game 3 begins at 9:00 p.m. ET.
