What are the LIV Golf team names?
Here are the 12 LIV Golf team names for the first-ever tournament being held in London this week.
For the first time outside the Ryder Cup and the President Cup, there are golf teams that fans can pick and choose to cheer for as 12 LIV Golf team names were unveiled ahead of the new organization’s London event.
These mascots are so wild and creative that getting excited about this new tour is a little easier. While most people are skeptical about the LIV Golf Tour, it is pretty unique. They decided to develop teams and logos to separate it and attempt to make it more of a team sport than just individually.
While golf is still an individual sport, LIV Golf added an extra element, and it’s a way to make money by selling the merchandise.
Each week, there will be team captains, and they select the three remaining players to round out the foursomes. The player pool will change each week, making each even a little unique from the previous one.
Snake order will be the order of selection like we see in fantasy football leagues where the player with the No.1 pick gets the 24th pick and so on until the teams are complete.
Each team has its logo, name and unique colors to give each group a personal identity.

Stinger is a golf shot, but only the most elite players can pull it off because it isn’t easy. Smash comes from the sound made when a ball hits the club. A Punch is another type of shot.
Niblicks is a Scottish reference to the rich golf history from the birthplace of golf. According to the LIV Golf site, it has a more progressive aesthetic and it’s a classic term for a club during the bygone era.
Majesticks is another shot that is majestic, one that produces a perfect arc and lands where you aimed. Iron Heads are all about the club head and how it gets forged from iron.
Hy Flyers is a reference to the flight of the ball. Fireballs embody firey and passionate golfers, which is why it’s a perfect starting point for Garcia. Crushers are the powerhouses of golf and reference the hard-hitting shots built off strength.
Lastly, a Cleek is a driving iron that appeals to golf heritage. It’s an older club, which references the game’s long history.
These names are fun and recognizable, so hopefully, fans can pick a favorite and run with it. Round 1 of the LIV London Golf Event starts Thursday at 9 a.m. ET or 2 p.m. London time.
