One moment the Yankees were being wrecked by the Twins. The next, New York was pulling off their 16th comeback win. Fans went through it all.
The Yankees are the best team in baseball this season largely because of the exceptional performance of their pitching staff thus far.
So it came as a bit of a shock when the Minnesota Twins went back-to-back-to-back handing Jameson Taillon then Nestor Cortes then Gerrit Cole their worst outings of the season on consecutive days.
Despite that, New York came out of the series 2-1 thanks to a thrilling comeback from down 7-3 in the third inning.
Yankees fans went through highs and lows vs. Twins
When Gerrit Cole gave up five home runs in the first three innings, it looked like the Twins would run away with it. Instead, Joey Gallo, Aaron Hicks and Anthony Rizzo flipped the script and gave the Bronx plenty to celebrate.

In each game this series the #MNTwins lineup has gotten to the Yankees' starting pitcher ā Jameson Taillon, Nestor Cortes, and Gerrit Cole ā for their most runs allowed in any start this season.

Gerrit Cole is the first pitcher--starter or reliever--in Yankees history to allow 5+ HR in a game in less than three innings pitched!

All of those people declaring this game over and turning off their tv/radios will be surprised to see the Yankees suddenly within two at 7-5 after back to back homers by Gallo and LeMahieu

How many of you guys had "Gallo and Hicks lead the Yankees to a comeback after Cole has the worst start of his career" on your bingo cards tonight?

The Yankees getting just one of either Aaron Hicks or Joey Gallo playing like this longterm would be huge. Imagine both

Entering tonight the Yankees largest deficit overcome to win a game is 3 runs.

They trailed 7-3 in this game...
Through 57 games last year, the Yankees had scored 10+ runs just once. https://t.co/dhIeeQje2X

Only the Twins can hit 5 home runs off Gerrit Cole and still lose to the Yankees.

Thatās a win that gives you another reason to believe the Yankees are winning the World Series this year.

They just donāt lose no matter what happens. 41-16 baby lets fucking go
After Minnesota took their 7-3 lead, the Yankees scored seven unanswered runs including home runs from Gallo, LeMahieu and Hicks.
As some of those fans tweeted, it was the kind of win and series that would make anyone believe the Yankees have something special going for them this season. They certainly have an impressive amount of resilience to lean on. No deficit is too large to be overcome it seems.
New York improved to 41-16 with a series against the Cubs on the horizon.
Minnesota dropped to 33-26 and will have to begin their series against the Rays wondering how they could have let the opportunity to humble the Yankees pass them by.
