NBA Draft rumors 2022: 5 targets for the Chicago Bulls
3. Blake Wesley
Wesley is arguably the player with the highest ceiling who has a realistic chance of dropping all the way to Chicago at 18. Ironically, the former Notre Dame standout’s scouting report will remind a lot of Bulls fans of what scouts said about White before he was drafted.
The big advantage Wesley has over White is that he’s bigger and longer. That makes it easier for him to create quality passing angles off the dribble. He might lack the high-end speed that White showcases from time to time but Wesley should develop into a far superior halfcourt creator.
Like a lot of prospects projected to be available in the middle of Round 1, there are legitimate concerns about Wesley’s perimeter shooting. It’s a stroke that might need to be torn down and recreated at the pro level. As such, Wesley will require patience at the next level before he’s ready to play meaningful minutes.
The top end of Wesley’s potential as a prospect is to be an above-average starting point guard. That’s terrific value anywhere in the second half of the first round. The Bulls might need to wait on Wesley to develop, but he’d give them another potential high-end rotation guy to work with moving forward.
