2. The Raptors and Indiana Pacers could change each other’s minds

The Pacers have said they don’t want to trade Myles Turner. The Raptors seem unwilling to trade OG Anunoby. But both players have been mentioned in trade rumors and a 1-for-1 swap works from a number of perspectives.

For the Raptors, they add a defensive anchor at center and, with Scottie Barnes and Pascal Siakam, assemble what could be one of the best and most malleable defensive frontcourts in the league. Adding another 3-point threat to the frontcourt also helps keep the floor spaced for Fred VanVleet, Siakam and Gary Trent Jr. The Raptors are already on an upward trajectory but trading wing depth for a big man upgrade could accelerate things.

For the Pacers, they get a player three years younger who is already established as a borderline star on a very team-friendly contract. Anunoby is still developing as a secondary creator but he’s a reliable outside threat and one of the best defenders in the league against larger wings. This trade would still allow the Pacers to chase a star with the No. 6 pick while building around the 23-and-younger core of Anunoby, Haliburton and Isaiah Jackson.
