LIV Golf will make their presence felt at the US Open this week. Which LIV golfers have the best chance to win the tournament, and who has no shot?

The 2022 US Open begins on Thursday, but it seems as though LIV Golf and those who’ve joined the PGA’s rival have taken center stage at The Country Club in Brookline this week.

While some fans of golf may find LIV Golf to be controversial, there’s no denying that some of the most talented golfers in the world are part of the sport’s newest tour.

Despite having resigned from the PGA Tour or having been suspended, because the US Open is governed by the USGA, Phil Mickelson, Louis Oosthuizen, and Patrick Reed will all be at Brookline this week.

While Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, Xander Schauffele, and other members of the PGA Tour might be the odds-on favorites to win the tournament, those who joined LIV Golf should not be discounted. Which two LIV golfers have the best chance to win the US Open this week, and which one has absolutely no chance?

LIV Golf’s Dustin Johnson could win the 2022 US Open

There’s no way that you can count out Dustin Johnson this week at Brookline. In February of 2017, Johnson became the No. 1-ranked golfer in the world and held that title for over a year. The 37-year-old won the US Open in 2016, so the ability to compete in this type of event is certainly there.

Last year, Johnson ranked seventh on the PGA Tour in driving distance, pounding the ball an average of 312 yards off the tee. While accuracy is of the utmost importance at a US Open, The Country Club is over 7,000 yards in length.

Now there are some negatives surrounding Johnson as he enters play this week. In his last major championship appearance at the PGA Championship, Johnson did not even make the cut. Back-to-back 73s kept the South Carolina native out of the action that weekend. Johnson also hasn’t had a Top 10 finish since THE PLAYERS Championship in March.

But with Dustin Johnson’s decision to join LIV Golf now behind him, perhaps he can refocus on becoming one of the better golfers in the world. In addition to winning the 2016 US Open, Dustin Johnson also finished in the Top 10 five times. This event is tailor-made for Johnson’s game and he should fare well at Brookline this week.
