Has Matt Fitzpatrick won a major?
Matt Fitzpatrick is in the mix at the 2022 US Open but has the Englishman ever won a major championship before in his career?
Throughout the 2021-22 PGA Tour season, we’ve seen Matt Fitzpatrick raise his game to a new level. He’s started to hit the ball further off of the tee, which certainly helps, but the other parts of his game have been even better than ever before as well.
Then came the 2022 US Open, coincidentally being played at The Country Club where he won the U.S. Amateur in 2013. That put a ton of pressure on him to make some noise in the major. And he did, putting himself in contention.
But with that recent rise in form, the question has been asked by many casual fans: Has he ever won a major before?
Has Matt Fitzpatrick won a major?
Matt Fitzpatrick has not won a major championship in his overall fruitful career.
Entering the 2022 major season, Fitzpatrick’s record in these championships was certainly a bit dubious for a player of his caliber. He had just one Top 10 in his career, which came at The Masters back in 2016. He’s turned it up this year, though, with a T14 at The Masters and then finishing T5 at the 2022 PGA Championship, which was actually disappointing as he lost the plot on Sunday for the final round.
He entered Sunday at the US Open, however, as part of the final pairing.
Matt Fitzpatrick career wins
Much like his partner in the final pairing, Fitzpatrick has not won a major and has not actually won an event on the PGA Tour. However, the big difference is that Fitzpatrick has been quite successful on the European Tour, now called the DP World Tour.
Fitzpatrick has seven career DP World Tour wins, first capturing a victory at the 2015 British Masters and most recently winning at the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucia Masters in 2021.
