5 MLB stadiums every fan needs to visit
4. PNC Park
PNC Park is home to the Pittsburgh Pirates opened in 2001 and is an incredible nod to the steel industry that built Pittsburgh. The park is just east of the former Three Rivers Stadium and sits alongside the Alleghany River. The picturesque skyline of downtown Pittsburgh sets a beautiful backdrop for the park.
There are several tributes to Pittsburgh’s great Roberto Clemente around the park. Most notably, the Sixth Street Bridge was renamed Roberto Clemente Bridge, which majestically sits behind the left-center field. The renaming served as a compromise to the fans who wished the park be named after Clemente. PNC Financial’s massive financial contribution to PNC Park, however, secured their naming rights to the stadium.
The park also features statues of several Pirate greats including Clemente, legend Honus Wagner, Willie Stargell, and Bill Mazeroski.
There are several ticketed lounges with restaurant amenities throughout the stadium. The concourse features a “Taste of Pittsburgh,” providing other options to the more traditional ballpark foods.
With an assortment of food and drink, the Pittsburgh skyline provides the perfect, must-see backdrop to take in a Pirates game.
