1. Petco Park

Petco Park opened in 2004 as home to the San Diego Padres. The park is situated in Downtown San Diego giving the park a spectacular backdrop. The park faces the San Diego Trolley station as well as the Santa Fe Depot. There is a pedestrian park at the park just beyond center field.

The Western Metal Supply building is a historic building in San Diego and sits just outside left field, providing an interesting aesthetic. The building was renovated and features a team store as well as some restaurants, suites and rooftop seating. The southwest corner of the building serves as the left-field foul pole secured with a bright yellow strip of iron.

There are 244 HDTV monitors throughout the venue as well as 200 computer-controlled speakers that provide a definite beat to the game. After each homer from a Padre, there are fireworks shot off in center field, along with four torches that light up. A ship’s whistle is also sounded. The whistle is a recording of the whistle from the USS Ronald Reagan, which is ported in San Diego.

The park is considered an extreme pitcher’s park but home run hitters Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis have found success at the park.

There are statues outside the stadium honoring Hall of Famer and Padre greats Tony Gwynn and Trevor Hoffman.

This is a beautiful, state-of-the-art stadium and just an amazing view to take in a ballgame. It’s definitely a must-see for its views and comfortable climate as it’s near the bay in San Diego.
