Georgia football insider doesn’t close door on Arch Manning just yet
Georgia football may have seen its top recruit, Arch Manning, pick Texas on Thursday, but that doesn’t mean the Dawgs stop pushing for him.
There is a long time between now and Early Signing Day in December, so until Arch Manning inks his name officially to Texas, don’t count out the Georgia football staff yet.
Georgia doesn’t burn bridges with any recruit, especially one like Manning, so while it stings to see him pick the Longhorns over the Dawgs, things could change.
Manning isn’t a player who can easily sway one way or another because NIL deals aren’t on the table until he gets to college, so it’s an old-school rat race.
Recruiting is a marathon, not a sprint — if anyone has mastered this race, it’s head coach Kirby Smart.
Georgia football will leave the door open for Arch Manning
Manning liked Steve Sarkisian at Texas, and that is okay. Georgia hasn’t had the best track record of putting quarterbacks into the NFL, so that decision makes sense. However, the Dawgs are playing a lot better than Texas. Georgia is also someone that contends yearly, whereas Texas hasn’t done much outside the one year they beat Georgia in the Sugar Bowl.
This kid is doing what he thinks is best for him, and no one should fault him for that.
Does it stink that Georgia missed out on someone like him? Sure, but the Dawgs have a couple of 5-stars and a 4-star already in the quarterback room, ready to compete and lead the team once Stetson Bennett leaves.

But I doubt UGA will stop recruiting him. Kirby doesn't burn bridges because kids sometimes decommit. Plus you have to recruit them continuously just in case they wind up in the transfer portal.
Six months until signing day.
Radi Nabulsi of UGA Sports is right about the Dawgs not closing the door on Manning because Georgia never stops recruiting until the pen hits the paper. Manning will be no different.
While I don’t think he will change his mind, it never hurts to try because kids will be kids. One week they love something, and the next week it’s something else. Manning is a smart kid, and if he genuinely believes Texas is the best spot for him — best of luck.
However, he could grow to regret that decision when Georgia contends for another national championship and the Longhorns go 6-6.
