Guardians radio commentator calls Miguel Sano fat on air
By Mark Powell
The Cleveland Guardians radio broadcaster Tom Hamilton claimed Twins slugger Miguel Sano was faking an injury, stating instead that he’s gotten fat.
Hamilton, we assume, is joking by spreading this rumor — but it’s still not something that should be spread over public airwaves.
The Guardians radio broadcaster was recorded by JomBoy Media making said comment, and is hasn’t been well-received by Minnesota sports fans.
It’s unlikely that Hamilton would have access to such information, either. Hamilton does get some inside info on the Guardians, but he is a radio broadcaster for a rival team. This, by all means, is hyperbole if nothing else.
Guardians broadcaster calls Twins slugger Miguel Sano fat
Sano is rehabbing from a knee injury, and he’s been out for quite some time. Minnesota’s lineup is doing fine without him, as they feature Byron Buxton (most of the time) and Carlos Correa, but adding the powerful Sano to that mix would only make them more dangerous.
That’s why the Minnesota front office wants to do right by Sano. Rather than rushing him back, and potentially exposing him to injury again, the Twins are allowing him to take his time.
Darren Wolfson of KSTP and SKOR North recently reported that Sano is in Fort Myers and ramping up for a return. So, he’ll be back before Twins fans know it.
At that point, Hamilton can be the judge if he truly is out of shape. But making jokes about it on the air without much evidence is sketchy to say the least.
