Russell Westbrook claps back at Skip Bayless after name-calling

Russell Westbrook of the Los Angeles Lakers put FOX Sports personality Skip Bayless on blast for calling him “Westbrick” on Twitter.

The Los Angeles Lakers initially did not have a selection in the 2022 NBA Draft, but that all changed after they made a trade with the Orlando Magic to secure the 35th-overall pick. With it, the Lakers selected Michigan State guard Max Christie.

FOX Sports personality Skip Bayless tweeted after the selection that since Christie shot 32-percent from the three-point line last season, he fit right in with stars LeBron James and Russell Westbrook. The thing is, Bayless called Westbrook “Westbrick.”

Less than a day later, Westbrook responded to Bayless, telling him to “watch [his] mouth” and to not say anything on Twitter that he wouldn’t say to his face.

Westbrook was not having it from Bayless.

The Lakers made the all-in move to acquire Westbrook from the Washington Wizards to make a super team alongside James and Anthony Davis. The thing is, Westbrook had a down year, and it did not help that both James and Davis did miss time due to injuries.

Westbrook played in 78 games, where he averaged 18.5 points, 7.4 rebounds and 7.1 assists while posting a field goal percentage of 44.4 and a three-point percentage of 29.8-percent. This is the lowest three-point percentage posted by Westbrook since his 2019-20 season with the Houston Rockets, where he shot 25.8-percent from behind the arc.

With the new league year approaching, Westbrook has a player option worth $47.1 million he can exercise for the 2022-23 season. Lakers vice president of basketball operations Rob Pelinka revealed that he and new head coach Darvin Ham spoke with Westbrook about his future with the team, saying they need him to be a defense-first player
