Kudos to Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker for making sure Washington Nationals skipper Dave Martinez will indeed be part of this year’s Midsummer Classic.

Brian Snitker has Dave Martinez’s back when it comes to this year’s All-Star Game, 100 percent.

Since the Atlanta Braves won the NL pennant, and the 2021 World Series, Snitker gets to serve as the manager of this year’s National League All-Star team. With their being no 2020 All-Star Game because of the global pandemic, Martinez did not get his chance to manage the NL squad the year after his 2019 Washington Nationals won the World Series for the first time in franchise history.

For some reason, Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts did not pay it forward a year ago…

Brian Snitker does the right thing and adds Dave Martinez to his All-Star staff

Look. Washington has fallen off a cliff in the years since beating the Houston Astros in the Fall Classic three seasons ago. The Nationals are among the worst teams in the National League. While most reigning league championship managers tend to add skippers on other contending teams, it shows how much respect Snitker has for the leader of one of his club’s biggest rivals.

Not to say there are karmic implications here, but this is the right thing to do. It may give Snitker the go-ahead to pack his NL roster with borderline Braves All-Stars. Atlanta should get a handful of players to the Midsummer Classic anyway (Ronald Acuña Jr., Dansby Swanson, Max Fried, etc.), but given that the last few roster spots are up to Snitker’s discretion, to the victor go the spoils!

The 2022 MLB All-Star Game will take place at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California on July 19. Fate would have it, Dodger Stadium was supposed to be the home to the 2020 MLB All-Star Game that got canceled due to COVID-19. This is the fourth time the Dodgers have been the host to the event, but it will only be the second held at Dodger Stadium. How is that even possible?

Win or lose, Martinez will be in the National League dugout working with Snitker and company.
