Terry McLaurin contract details: Commanders sign wideout to huge deal

The Washington Commanders and wide receiver Terry McLaurin agreed to a three-year contract extension.

This NFL offseason has seen plenty of wide receivers get paid lucrative contract extensions, such as Davante Adams of the Las Vegas Raiders, Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins, and A.J. Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles. There is now another wide receiver in the NFC East to receive a new contract.

According to ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Washington Commanders and Terry McLaurin have agreed to terms on a three-year, $71 million contract extension. McLaurin was set to become a free agent at the end of this upcoming season.

McLaurin will receive a $28 million signing bonus in his deal, the largest ever given to a wide receiver. That, and 76.4-percent of the new money in his contract is guaranteed.

The wide receiver is coming off back-to-back 1,000 receiving yards seasons. IN 2021, McLaurin caught 77-of-130 targets for 1,053 yards and five touchdowns through 17 games. Overall, he recorded 222 receptions for 3,090 yards and 16 touchdowns through his first three seasons in the NFL.

McLaurin is now in Washington through the 2025 season. This upcoming season, Washington looks to thrive with their passing attack consisting of quarterback Carson Wentz and McLaurin’s fellow wide receivers in Curtis Samuel and Jahan Dotson.
