Why not swing for the fences again? Clemson is going to be the biggest target for the SEC to expand next. This is an arms race and picking off the Tigers before the SEC can grab them would be a massive coup.

Clemson should be looking closely at realignment anyways. The ACC may be in better shape than the Big 12 or Pac-12 were before their top brands decided to leave but it’s no match for the SEC and Big Ten in terms of power or reach.

The Tigers don’t have to abandon the ACC just yet. They can bide their time for a little while.

However, realignment will come to a head sooner than later and it may make the most sense to get in with the Big Ten went they’re on the verge of a historic media rights deal. The ACC’s current deal with ESPN will pale in comparison to what may be coming down the line in the B1G.
