When it comes to recognizable football brands on the west coast, it’s USC and Oregon. With the Trojans gone, the Ducks are now the big boys in the Pac-12, but you’d better believe they’d rather have a piece of that B1G pie instead of holding their current conference afloat by themselves.

Oregon would bring with it the financial backing of Phil Knight, who is clearly willing to invest to make sure the football program is as competitive as possible. In the past decade, they’ve gone to the College Football Playoff and won multiple Rose Bowl games. They’re more than just the uniform combinations.

The only thing the Ducks lack is a major media market, though they would give the Big Ten a foothold in the Pacific Northwest they wouldn’t otherwise have.

Plus, Oregon would bring with them access to another market via their likely rivalry partner…
