The Atlanta Braves get the best news possible when it comes to Adam Duvall’s hand injury.

Atlanta Braves fans can relax knowing Adam Duvall did not break any bones in his injured hand.

Duvall had to exit Saturday’s road game vs. the Cincinnati Reds shortly after getting hit in the hand by a pitch. After getting thrown out on the bases path in yet another base-running blunder for him, Braves skipper Brian Snitker pulled Duvall from the game. He would later fly back to Atlanta to have his hand looked at. The good news is that the x-rays and MRI came back negative.

David O’Brien of The Athletic reported Duvall is day-to-day for the Braves and is not going on IL.

With Sunday’s series finale being the last game of a brief road trip for the Braves, it served Atlanta to get Duvall back home a day early to have his injured hand evaluated. The Braves will commence a four-game series vs. the St. Louis Cardinals on the Fourth of July. The hope is that Duvall will be healthy enough to return to the Atlanta lineup at some point in this series vs. the visiting Redbirds.

Atlanta was able to avoid putting Ronald Acuña Jr. on IL after he fouled a ball off his left foot over a week ago. He returned to the lineup vs. the Reds, first as a DH before manning right field on Saturday afternoon. With Eddie Rosario working his way back from an eye injury, the Braves are about to see their strong outfield improve even more. No more Marcell Ozuna in left field, please.

With Michael Harris II’s emergence in centerfield, the Braves can afford to take their time on re-inserting Duvall back into the lineup. Because it is a hand, but it may take longer for him to return than say with Acuña. While Duvall’s injury is of the day-to-day variety, he and the Braves are very fortunate that he did not break anything in his hand. Otherwise, he would be out for a good while.

Look for Duvall to possibly return to the Braves’ lineup at some point during their next homestand.
