2. Dallas Keuchel was not what the White Sox expected
In a start for the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday, Keuchel pitched five innings against the Colorado Rockies, and gave up six hits, and seven runs — six of which were earned. He walked three. Kuechel gave up a three-run homer to Brendan Rogers in the first inning.
The White Sox designated Keuchel for assignment in May after growing weary of his struggles to start the season. The D-backs signed the veteran pitchers hoping to provide a change of scenery for the struggling starter.
In 10 starts on the year, Keuchel is 2-5 the year with 41.1 innings thrown. He has walked 26 batters while striking out 30, accumulating a 14.5% strikeout rate.
Once a dominant arm for the Houston Astros, Keuchel has really struggled since leaving them. An average season with the Atlanta Braves in 2019 helped Keuchel earn a three-season contract with the White Sox worth $55.5 million.
He will be a free agent after this season. If he wants to continue pitching in the MLB, he must turn this miserable season around.
