3. Ender Inciarte won’t be on the Mets roster past the trade deadline

If I would have made the proclamation two-to-three years ago that Ender Inciarte would be replaced by Travis Jankowski, most fans would have looked at me like I had two heads. But that’s exactly what’s about to transpire.

Jankowski, who was a spark plug for this New York Mets club earlier in the season, is rehabbing in the minors and it won’t be long until the speedy and versatile outfielder is ready to return to Buck Showalter’s lineup.

With the addition of Jankowski will come the subtraction of Ender Inciarte who was signed to a minor-league contract late last month. The skilled outfielder enjoyed a nice run with the Atlanta Braves during the early part of his career, but injuries took their toll and Inciarte has been bouncing around with big league clubs and in the minors for the past year or so.

After being designated for assignment by the Braves late last season, Inciarte latched on with the Cincinnati Reds, but was never called up to the bigs. During the offseason, the 31-year-old signed a minor league pact with the New York Yankees, but never got selected to play in the majors before being released.

While Ender Inciarte has at least seen the field for the New York Mets this season, it’s not likely to last for very long. The Mets are likely to be Inciarte’s fourth team in the past 12 months.
