LIV Golf rumors: Hideki Matsuyama already has a deal done?
The LIV Golf rumors surrounding Hideki Matsuyama joining the new league have caught fire, and he seems to be the next player headed there.
Hideki Matsuyama is the latest PGA Tour professional linked with LIV Golf, as rumors suggest there is already a finalized contract for the 2021 Masters champion.
Of all the players to leave the PGA Tour, this one is the most puzzling. He won a major championship and has had success on Tour, so why would he want to jump ship? The players that left were past their prime, disliked, or went for the money.
However, Matsuyama doesn’t fit any of those stereotypes. If anything, he was someone who never crossed our mind in terms of players willing to jump ship.
LIV Golf rumors suggest that Hideki Matsuyama will be the next player to leave
While this source of information isn’t the most reliable, at this point, with the number of players that have left, we have to discuss it.
This alleged contract has to be a hefty one for someone like Matsuyama to leave the PGA Tour. He isn’t quite a household name in America but is someone golf fans know and have grown to love.
Those bright colors he wears are something golf fans have grown to look for, and when his caddie bowed to Augusta National Golf Course, it made him even more likable. That respect is what so many love about Matsuyama.
His golf game is incredible, and he is one of the best ball strikers out there, so to see him allegedly have a contract to leave stings a bit.
Matsuyama is someone the PGA Tour can lose, but it doesn’t need to because so many fans worldwide follow him. Is the Tour life that bad for these players, or are the lawyers and folks crafting these contracts that persuasive?
Regardless, the rumors have him leaving for the LIV Golf Tour, which at this point is proving that it’s not going anywhere. The biggest question moving forward is what will the PGA Tour do now, or how many more players have to leave before change happens?
This rumor is one that I hope is false, but if it does end up being true, it’ll be a tough day for the PGA Tour.
